About

Matthew T. Cone

Parent. Volunteer. Advocate. I believe Spring Branch families deserve schools run with integrity — and local government that does not hide behind anonymity.

I am a Spring Branch ISD parent and long-time community volunteer. In 2024 I ran for the SBISD School Board to change the status quo: ballooning administrative costs, closed schools and cut programs, parents fundraising to keep student activities alive while paying high property taxes, and a board culture that too often protected insiders instead of students.

Before and during that race, I served on the Spring Branch Financial Advisory Team, coached with SBMSA, and volunteered across the district. I expected hard politics. I did not expect an anonymous website — SaveSBISD.org — to wage a multi-year smear campaign while operating as an unregistered political committee.

When the attacks came, I did not walk away. I hired counsel, filed suit in Harris County, and used the legal process to unmask the operator. That work led to Brian Muecke — a trusted district finance co-chair who was simultaneously funding and running the smear operation.

Today I publish The Desk of Matt Cone — a Harris County voice for transparency in local government. I own the SaveSBISD trademark and continue legal and public efforts so the truth, not anonymous garbage, defines my name online and offline.

My focus remains the same as it was on the campaign trail: accessible boards, fully funded schools, students prepared for real careers, and safe campuses — with sunlight on every dollar and every election.
